Hello all:

I wanted to ensure that this is indeed a clean install of Windows 10.

After downloading the Media Creation tool and copying the necessary files of importance from my system, I chose "Keep Nothing" under the upgrade options. The computer seems to run a lot faster, though we shall see after loading Microsoft Office. For those of you who want to still use IE, here's a helpful article:

Thanks for any help.

Woops, meant to say Windows 10

Yep. If you told it to keep nothing, you installed it clean.
You do have some things Microsoft gives, but you've done it.

If you installed it, it is already on by default.
Windows 10 has it's own.
I use Vipre, but it cost some.

How accessible is Defender, and how much does it protect you?

It is completely accessible.
As far as protection, Microsoft still suggest you might wish to use something to go with it.
Vipre is a complete package, and I've never had any problems.
The company will even help you if you do.
With any of these things, you still have to have good habits. They just help you out.
They are only as good as the people that keep them current as well.
So, the one in Windows 10 is fine as it goes.
I found it makes my machine a bit slower then Vipre, and it a bit less protective, as to what it covers, but still, a good choice.

Defender actually has pretty shitty results, look at your reviews carefully.

Reviews are subjective.
In the next version coming in about a week, it will be improved.
